Giclee' comes from the French verb for to spurt or squirt and it refers to the modern technology of ink-jet printers. Huge advancement in the field of computer-generated digital scanning and imaging in recent years has revolutionized the way artists do reproductions of their work. Inks that use pigments instead of dyes have increased the longevity of printed reproductions many fold. The cost per print is somewhat higher than offset lithography, but the process allows an artist to offer a greater variety of work as reproductions, and is still very affordable.
My giclee reproductions are done on acid-free watercolor paper. The pigmented inks are currently rated at over 100 years for lifespan.
A giclee' print can be made to order from any original work that I have. Please e-mail me if you have any other questions. roseg4art@comcast.net
